My Thoughts Are Stars

Tired of a one-sided love, but not quite ready to give in, hold a hand to the scattered starfield of tears.

It's dark outside, night has fallen, and all my thoughts are stars.

I cannot sleep, I stay awake, recollections keeping me from rest.

I think of you, how it was before we ever broke apart.

Staring at the empty walls, void of memory, I thought was best.

But seeing now my broken vow, this heart so fragile and tired.

I made mistakes, I tried not to break, or fall off life's high wire.

My thoughts are stars, as the night goes on, they twinkle in the sky.

Velvety softness, whispering words, I wonder if you think of me.

Eyes so weary from being held open, tired of the same old sighs.

A soft wind calls from far off east, I know that this is just a dream.

Making more than life once was, call me back again.

And wake me up from my dreams, I'll love you till the end.

About the Creator

Elizabeth Mustain

Hi, my name is Elizabeth. What I write can be a bit sad, as I've suffered from depression, and honestly still fight it every day. Writing has helped a lot with it though, and hopefully, my words will be able to move you, even a little bit.
