My Dear Predator

A Poem of Vulnerability

Alone I am fierce and valiant in my own ways and nothing can move me from where I stand.

I am brave and independent. I am stronger than those whom I see.

But, alas, in your presence I am but a small susceptible prey.

You see through my resilient façade and see the true and timid me.

With one gaze into my eyes, you break my barrier and see my heart and soul.

But, my dear predator, I do not fear you.

Even though I know that, at any moment, you can hurt and break me; I do not fear you.

I love you.

I stand before you every night and day as you peer into my very being revealing all that I am.

I do not resist you. I do not fight you. I will stand before your hands; open and bare frame.

Though you are my most loved you are the most dangerous to me.

But you do not seem to poke or taunt me.

You do not toy with me like any other. You do not ask me to bow or cower; though for you, I would.

You do not use your power and dominance against me. Instead, you use it to scare off any other who dare an attempt to pursue my flesh.

You know I am weak against you. You know you are my risk that I am willing to take just to be in your presence.

Just to feel your gaze upon me. You see my scars from my encounters before. Others called me foolish for this undying desire I have for you and you alone, to have no caution. Never have I put me in such danger and have no fear in my heart about what the consequences may hold.

But you do not see me as foolish. No, you see me as fascinating. One to admire. One who can finally see in your heart. Due to your own instinct, That alone frightens you yet, at the same time, soothes you to know that I do not see you as the danger, but as who you truly are.

You hold me dear to you as well. You need me to live in a whole new sense.

I am now your weakness. I am now your risk.

But, my dear predator, you are not my prey

And I am no longer yours.
