Love Is a Gauntlet

A Poem

Marriage is never a happily ever after,

Fairy tales are deceitful that way,

Fight like lions we will,

A rift may come between us at times,

And ideals may conflict,

Life brings many hardships,

But strong as an iron chain we are,

For I'm the light that shines your darkest hour,

You're the pillar that gives me strength when I fall,

I'm the soul that gives life to our family,

You're the heart that brings warmth to our home,

We'll shed sweat, blood, and tears together,

For love is a gauntlet,

Bliss and happiness eternal may not always be so,

Nevertheless the memories we make,

Will be the treasures we'll keep
