Lonely Lover

Military Heart

Long distance lies

Cry in the night.

No tears on my face.

There’s a hole in my heart.

Can you find your place?

Will you fill the void?

Take me away from reality?

This constant emptiness,

I need a new mentality.

I try to move on,

To never look back.

But each step I take.

My heart forms a new crack.

I think of the conditions,

And the bed where you lie.

7460 miles away…

The thought makes me want to cry.

Will I hug you again?

Smack your face for stupidity?

Will I break down and cry?

All I want is tranquility.

To know that you’re safe,

That you’ll come home in one piece.

A phone call now and then,

That would put my heart at ease.

My heart beats like a drum,

Going thump in the night.

I long for the memories,

Wrapped in your arms so tight.

To see you again,

That would make my heart sing.

And unlike other girls

I’m not even asking for a ring.

Just to see you again,

Hold me in your arms tight.

Whisper in my ear,

“Darlin’, everything’s alright”
