Languid Memories

"She spoke as if words fell from her tongue like languid memories..."

she spoke as if words fell from her tongue like languid memories

as if her lips knew every movement personally

practiced perfectly

as if this was the one thing she could do and people would watch transfixed as she spoke mixed words tangled together like the intricate overlaps of her favorite sweater

she spoke as if it was the only moment she would enjoy all day

as if this small crowd and bad camera were the only people in the entire world in ease with the small movement of her graceful mandible

understandable was her niche but she caught relatable in her whirlwind

the crowd was full of snaps and quips

i've never heard someone speak as if her voice could sail ships

as if her words could carry mountains down the mississippi

as if her mouth was base of everyone's favorite song

i want to be that kind of someone

someone who doesn't just sing along
