It's Always Darkest B4 the Dawn

Dark Before Light

She always heard that saying

You know the one about dark before light

Well it never helped

Not once

Not even half of once

It never helped

Always recited during the most trying of times

While the children cry because u screamed

they fear what will happen

While the children cry because I screamed

they fear what will happen

In the dark before light

Inevitability

Wrapped in enigma

Because they know not whence they came nor where they are going

They just know what they see

No evil

Hear

No evil

Speak

No evil

Just the dark before light

Repositioned

I can't tell which is worse

Either is debilitating

Ur mind berating you with questions

About yourself

For whatever reason

For all of ‘em

Because…. Ummmmmm…. The internet?

Fighting oneself for control of oneself

Grappling with a spectre

In the dark before light

Dead men walk

No one notices

The loneliness comes and hugs you

Like a long lost sibling

Rubbing your back and rocking you like Auntie

When u cried that time because you lost money

Skin and bones comfort

Mac n cheese at midnight because you’re too skinny

Maybe in the dark before light

We find ourselves

But what if that dark is manufactured
