If You Are Not from Band
Marching Band
If you’re not from band
you don’t know the work
you just can’t know the hard work
the hot, and humid rays of the sun
with commitment we run
back to our last set
then once again marching with the met
If you’re not from band you don’t know
the determination
and the inspiration
and the motivation
to be great
If you’re not from band you don’t understand
our laughs and our cries
our unity
our story
If you’re not from band
you just can’t understand Saturday rushes
the pushing
we force ourselves to do
If you’re not from band
you just can’t understand that early is on time
on time is late
and late is death
you will not get a chance to speak a breath
if you are late
If you’re not from band you don’t know
that one more rep
means many more reps
the intolerance for the unfocused
you are never unnoticed
If you’re not from band you just can’t understand
the surge of energy after every performance
with the raging audience
and the abundance of pride
About the Creator
Elizabeth Van Ingen
I mostly enjoy writing poems and I have a few ideas for novels but it is years in the making...
