I Need a Girlfriend

My True Emotions in Written Words - Poetry

“I need a girlfriend.”

A frown tugs on my lips as my eyes can over the text.

I don’t know what to do next.

I wish I could be the one to make you smile,

Even if it was just for a while.

I was stupid to let my heart do this,

But my heart likes to play hit and miss.

“I’m sorry.”

My fingers beg to write a different message but I can’t afford it,

And it feels like my heart drops into a bottomless pit.

I don’t want awkward air between us,

So I don’t allow us to discuss.

I just want you happy,

Even if I’m crappy.

“Me too.”

I’m asked why I don’t tell you,

And I want to,

But I can’t.

With you as a best friend, I can’t.

So I’ll bask in this moment,

Even if I become broken.
