We are not far from home
Miles maybe, but let's push onward
This barren landscape will give way to lush gardens
I've seen it before
And sometimes the fields trick us
And we find but one small
delicate flower
A poppy among weeds
And often I curse the ground for its lack of luster
But we must be thankful
For even a simple gift as this can be appreciated as greatly as the gift of life itself
And while pain and persecution exist onward
I find peace knowing moments like this
Still pop up
from the grim grass
