Gene (top), Jean (left), Jeanie (bottom)

Unfortunately Jeanie’s mum left just after they were born, now all that remains is her genes as a reminder, but everyday Gene hopes and prays that Jean will return to lessen the burden of raising Jeanie on his own.

Regularly he tells Jeannie that he is worn down, back in the day he and Jean made quite the pair, but once Jean got wind of Jeanie she had to fly the nest.

She wasn’t prepared for the button-down lifestyle, so before Gene could take a knee Jean was out the door.

Last night Gene dreamt Jean changed her mind. “I’m stain,” she says before removing her boot. Cut to the morning—Gene's had enough of feeling blue, he’s putting it behind him, but something seems off. Breakfast is cooked but Jeanie ain’t turned up. Upstairs he finds Jeanie hung from the top bunk, with not even an inkling that he seemstressed.

He recited his measurements, and said all of his goodbyes, now all that’s left to remember Jeanie by is a stone—washed, and colours faded from the sun.

Years go by,

Gene's not clean,

he’s turned skinny, alone he belts up, he's out the loop and there’s a hole he can’t fix. As he falls back the buckle slips. He died that night with a needle by his side.

His reputations scuffed,

tarnished, tainted, and abhorred. His peers they will remember him, every now and then, but only with a sentence—He died in a drug den him.
