Focusing on Text

When Art Becomes Academic

I'm focusing on text

A chance to flex

My Complex

Intellectual

Textual

Muscle

Delivered through vocals

My weapon of choice

For this hustle

Allusion to

Historical

Political

And social

Are key elements

To consider but

Not necessarily integral so...

I won't compromise

Integrity

incorporating

Brainlessly

Ideas

And ideology

Taught

No

Wait...

Fed to me

Like pedigree

Prophecy

I'd rather be a prodigy

That lived

And died

In honesty

Whos art

Remains a mystery

In tapestries

& tabs and trees

For lunatics

& Mammals

Like the

Man at ease

Deep

Beneath the sea

That saw the sun

Consume the moon

Through walls within

In a room

Where a broom was kept

And swept under a carpet

All the hardships

And the hard shit

That his heart

Has used to harden

Sorry

I do

Beg your pardon.
