I don't care for your empty conversations,
Words that mean nothing,
Words being said for the sake of being words,
To fill an otherwise uncomfortable silence.
But why is silence so uncomfortable?
Times when silence has been the comfort come to mind,
No less than the words of a loved one,
Or my favourite song,
Being blasted from the lungs of my favourite artist.
Sometimes silence shouldn't be dreaded,
Shouldn't be shooed away,
As if feared by the very thought of taking a moment to breathe.
Breathe.
Take the second.
Think of some not so empty words,
Let something you mean spill out of your mouth.
I don't care for your empty conversations.

How the Harvest Mouse Came to Suisun Bay
A long, long time ago there was a family of harvest mice. Mice are common, but these were unique – born to those who had lived in the salty, marshy bay for many generations, these mice ate and drank from the sea as well as the land and rivers. For generations, there were only the southern families, scattered along the marshes of Corte Madera and in the San Francisco Bay (U.S. Fish & Wildlife, 2013). One family, however, would undergo strife and conflict before reaching a whole new world. What became of them after is another tale entirely – but this is how their story begins.
