Dear Dad

A Poem

Dear Dad,

I'm sorry I'm not the little girl you'd hoped that I would be.

I'm sorry for all the mean things I said when I didn't get my way.

I'm sorry I hate my last name.

I'm sorry for lying to you about myself and things that I've done.

I'm sorry that I smoked pot that one time; I hated it if that makes you feel any better...

I'm sorry that I'm not straight and that you're not okay with my sexuality; I'm pansexual by the way and I know you won't understand that.

I'm sorry I may not marry a man when I'm older.

I'm sorry for not calling when I said I would.

I'm sorry that you're hurting.

I'm sorry I can't be there for you... That I can't take care of you.

I'm sorry that mom didn't name me after your mother; Edna is a cool name. Although, I do like my own... It's a nice name as well, it means pearl light. Did you know that?

I'm really sorry, Dad, for all the times I may have hurt you.

I hope you still continue to love me unconditionally, because even though I've hurt you I will always love you. You are my father after all...

Sincerely,

M.A
