Celestial Dance

Starlit Magnets

Sometimes I wake up in the night

When I know I should be sleeping

And somewhere in the distance

I think I can hear music

Sometimes I go back to sleep

But usually, wonder and curiosity fill me

And I make my way through darkness

Groping through shadows, careful not to trip

Longing to find that ethereal song

It always seems to come from outside

So I make my way to a window

But the city lights just blind me

The concrete suffocates

Car exhaust chokes me

I close the window in disappointment

And I make my way back to bed

But tonight I dreamed I found the song

It came down from the stars

It was a cool, clear night

Deep in a forest

The sky was midnight blue

Fading steadily to inky black

The stars twinkled and winked at me

And the song of the heavens played for me

With no concrete to muffle it

No city lights to wash away the

Brilliance of the stars

I breathed deeply of clean air

And I rejoiced

And all I could do was dance

As the beauty of the heavens

Pulled tears from my eyes

With starlit magnets

My spirit was moved

To a celestial dance

That my body followed

As if by memory

Had I been here before?

In this forest clearing?

Had I danced this celestial dance before?

Had I once before cried these tears

At the heavens' overwhelming beauty?

I wake to morning light

Just like everyday

I smell exhaust fumes through an open window

And I weep again

Only this time in sadness

For the stars I cannot see

For the music I cannot hear

About the Creator

A. R. Ambrosi

I like to write, if that makes me a writer, then rock on!

I started writing as a child because I ran out of stuff to read. So, I only write stuff that I like. If you like it too, awesome! Enjoy! ^_^
