Break Free

Don't let your demons hold you down.

He just touched down his Focus to Detroit,

Ready for his life to reach the next point,

Finally dropped the chains and climbed, from the pits of hell,

Tortured soul filled with pain, it was time to say farewell,

Grief, regret and shame, still got up every time he fell,

Disappointment filled his name, fed up from the same old spell,

From his ill-gotten-gains, locked himself in a deep, dark cell,

What he saw was inhumane, if he screamed no one could tell.

Tired of being swayed by his demons and all their threats,

Suffering for a decade pitched-up-tent, in the shadow-of-death,

Went hungry when he got paid, his stomach always upset,

Beatin’ path had long been strayed, he was runnin’ out of breath,

His life was one big blockade, could not falter, could not fret,

He thought that he could evade but can't dodge the devil's debt,

Got-on-his knees and then prayed and the light came through his chest,

So he set out on a crusade, knowing he would be the best.

No longer feeling tied down leaving Hell like an escapee,

He won the devil's stare down so he bounced & screamed Fuck Tennessee!

Chest no longer weighed down so he swam across the dead black sea,

To be back up in Motown and be back where his old home boys be,

Shortly after touchdown watched his dreams become reality,

Like them kids on playgrounds feeling free and filled all up with glee,

Heart lies in his hometown where his peace of mind is guaranteed,

Lit up long past sundown future bright as his own sight can see.

Now to watch himself shine, his darkness finally conquered,

Like he came across a goldmine or just won a well-earned Oscar,

Life now on the incline, his old self he just slaughtered,

His goals now reach the skyline so he stands up that much taller,

He must have pleased the divine just got dealt the greatest honor,

Path has now been streamlined, good vibes have now been conjured,

No longer lost in space-time, his life has now been altered,

Enjoys the ride on cloud nine, let love and peace now prosper.
